
To mark World Maternal Mental Health Day on 7 May, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS), is hosting a free webinar. The event will focus on supporting mental health in the postpartum period and beyond, offering guidance and tools for parents and those supporting them.
About the event
This session will explore the common mental health challenges that can arise after childbirth and offer practical tools and strategies to help navigate them. It aims to empower parents with knowledge about what to expect, where to find support, and how to care for their mental wellbeing during this transitional period.
What the webinar will cover
Experts from SPMHS’ multidisciplinary team, including professionals from psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, and occupational therapy, will share insights and guidance on:
- Understanding hormonal changes and their impact on mental health
- Managing sleep disruptions and their mental health effects
- Strengthening relationships and accessing available supports
- Creating routines and handling daily transitions
- Practising self-compassion
- Reducing stress and preventing burnout

This session is designed to offer new parents, and anyone supporting them, knowledge and strategies that can best support them during the postpartum period and beyond. This event is free to attend, but registration is essential.
