The Art Committee here in St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS) is pleased to announce the return of the Anything Goes art exhibition.

Anything Goes is an art exhibition displaying a range of artworks made by service users and staff of SPMHS. It celebrates and supports creativity and expression through art, especially in the mental health recovery journey.

Staff and service users of SPMHS are now invited to submit their original artworks to the exhibition by Monday, 21 October.

About Anything Goes

The 2024/25 exhibition will mark the eighth outing of Anything Goes.

It will be displayed in the Art Space of St Patrick’s University Hospital (SPUH) from Monday, 11 November 2024 to Friday, 28 February 2025.

The exhibition welcomes a wide range of artworks, including paintings, photography and drawings (oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels); graphics; poetry; 3D artworks (pottery, sculpture); and mixed media.

Entries

Service users and staff of SPMHS - including SPUH, St Patrick’s Hospital Lucan, Willow Grove Adolescent Unit, the Dean Clinics and Associate Dean Clinics - are invited to enter the exhibition.

Each artist can submit a maximum of two artworks to the exhibition. The maximum allowed size of an artwork is A3 – 297 millimetres (mm) by 420 mm - or similar on canvas.

The entry process begins by completing an entry form. You can download the entry form here.

Each entry is assessed by the Art Committee, using a set of standard criteria, for acceptance to the exhibition. Accepted artworks can then be delivered to SPUH between 7 and 21 October 2024.

Entries or artworks received after 21 October cannot be accepted to the exhibition.

A formal launch of the Anything Goes exhibition will be held around the time it opens, with details of this to be announced closer to the time.

Overview of terms and conditions

Please note that entries are not open to family members or relatives of service users and staff.

Artists who would prefer for their artworks to be exhibited anonymously (without their name beside it) can choose this option on the entry form.

If, for any reason, the Art Committee is not in a position to exhibit an artwork, the artist will be contacted and offered the opportunity to enter an alternative artwork.

There are no prizes or awards associated with the exhibition. However, some of the artworks in the exhibition may be made available for sale. Buying and selling of exhibition pieces will be the responsibility of the artist. Artists are asked to indicate on the entry form if they wish for us to share their contact details with interested buyers.

At the end of the exhibition, arrangements will be made with the artists to collect their artworks, with uncollected works held for up to three months only.

You can see full terms and conditions of the exhibition here.
