St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS) is hosting a webinar to mark Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2025.

Taking place online on Wednesday, 5 March, this information-sharing webinar will explore binge eating disorder specifically, before looking at lived experiences of eating disorders and the recovery journey.

The webinar will be held between 6pm and 7.30pm. It will be split into two sessions.

Session one: Recognising binge eating disorder

The first session takes place from 6pm to 6.45pm.

Presented by clinicians from our Eating Disorders Service multidisciplinary team, this session will present a comprehensive overview of binge eating disorder.

Binge eating disorder is the most common eating disorder, yet it is the least recognised and least likely to be referred for specialist treatment.

During the 45-minute presentation, speakers will provide an overview of binge eating disorder, outlining the presentations of binge eating disorder and its treatment. The presentation will also explore the Binge Eating Disorder Programme here at SPMHS and how it supports eating disorder recovery.

Session two: Lived experiences and the recovery journey

The second session takes place as a panel discussion from 6.50pm to 7.30pm.

In this panel discussion, moderated by broadcaster Jan Ní Fhlanagáin, we will be joined by experts by experience who will discuss their experience of eating disorders and their recovery journey.

The panel discussion will explore themes such as seeking support and treatment for eating disorders, the role of the family member or supporter in a person’s recovery journey, and the impact of stigma.
