Care and treatment at St Patrick’s Mental Health Services
When you make an adult inpatient referral to SPMHS, the patient will be admitted to either approved centre. Both campuses provide identical services, with the exception of the acute adult services provided through the Dean Swift Ward in St Patrick’s University Hospital.
If referring your patient to SPMHS, we would be grateful if you could advise them that they will be admitted to either St Patrick’s University Hospital or St Patrick’s Hospital, Lucan, and assure them that both approved centres offer identical services and equal care and treatment. Further information regarding both centres is available at www.stpatricks.ie, in addition to information on what patients can expect from the referrals and admissions process. You may find it useful to pass on our website address to any patient who you are referring to our services. We hope to produce further information in the coming months to ensure that patients are as informed as possible about their admission to and treatment in SPMHS.
You can refer patients to SPMHS in a number of ways:
Electronic referrals
eReferrals can be sent electronically via Healthlink or via your GP Practice IT Management System (such as Socrates or HealthOne). Simply select St Patrick's Mental Health Services from the private hospital list and then Psychiatric Referral Service from departments. After this is completed, the team at SPMHS will respond.
Healthmail referrals
GPs with access to ‘Healthmail’ can send referrals to our Referral and Assessment Service by emailing referrals@stpatsmail.com via their secure ‘Healthmail’ email account.
Fax referrals
Fax
GPs who wish to fax referrals can do so on this Fax number: 01 249 3609. This fax machine is located in a secure area, only accessible by appropriate staff.
