CFT-E is a closed group that offers comprehensive psychological therapy for people who can manage recovery from their eating disorder in the community.
The group operates according to a trans-diagnostic model and can facilitate individuals with a range of eating disorders. The individuals who will benefit from this intervention tend to share many common problems, including feeling distressed about their size, shape and weight. They are also likely to use food, dieting, activity, vomiting or weight loss drugs to manage difficult experiences, relationships or painful thoughts, feelings and memories.
The upcoming cycle will commence in March 2024.
If you have any queries regarding an individual’s suitability for the CFT-E programme, please contact Adjunct Professor Clodagh Dowling, Director of Psychology here in St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS) and Clinical Lead for CFT-E, or Dr Clíona Hallissey, Senior Clinical Psychologist in SPMHS. You can reach Adjunct Professor Dowling by calling 01 249 3683, or phone 01 249 3289 to get in touch with Dr Hallissey.
If you have any other queries about the programme, please contact Hannah Ryan, Assistant Psychologist, by phoning 01 249 3315.
When referring a patient to the CFT-E programme, please include the person’s height and current weight. Individuals must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 18 or over for their referral to be accepted.
Upon receipt, all referrals will be processed by our day services team for insurance clearance purposes. The CFT-E team will contact the individual directly with an appointment for assessment or a start date. It is important to note that, because these day programmes are closed groups, waiting lists are likely to be formed.
